Joker Trick is Johnny's only known Instant Kill, which first appeared in Guilty Gear X.

In Guilty Gear -Strive-, it was retooled into an Overdrive.

Overview[]

In Guilty Gear X and XX, Johnny throws a card at the enemy. When it hits, it traps the enemy inside a spinning life size card with a portrait of the victim in distress on it. As the card stops spinning, Johnny cuts it in half diagonally and the card, and the victim disappears.

In Xrd -Revelator-, Johnny throws the Joker card to the opponent, and dashes with it at the same speed. As the card reaches his opponent, he slashes both the card and his opponent. Nothing appears to happen at first, but when Johnny sheathes his katana, the opponent falls down to the ground.

In Guilty Gear -Strive-, Johnny throws a card at their opponent - this varies for every character:

If the card connects with the opponent, he dashes forward, turning said card into his signature black JOKER card and slashes diagonally upwards, knocking the opponent away.

Trivia[]

  • Guilty Gear -Strive-'s version of Joker Trick gives characters their own respective card before turning to his JOKER card, with only two oddities:
    • Sol is given the Queen of Clubs - the only male character to be given a Queen card, the rest being Kings or Jacks besides Happy Chaos;
    • Happy Chaos is given a white JOKER card instead of any of the regular cards.
